Physically Here, Mentally Vacant

The Sensory Experience

I love going to the movies. I try to go frequently. Movies for me are like a whole body experience, in the sense that you physically go to a place and sit in a semi-comfortable chair, listen to a decent surround sound system, are visually stimulated by the moving images on the screen, and lastly, you might indulge in some of that $4.50 popcorn...

I also have a pretty good collection of movies on DVD. I mostly collect Anime, Action, Sci-Fi and Horror, but there are some other things thrown in for good measure. I think that a person's movie collection says a lot about them, and I am interested to know what my movie collection says about me.

DVD Profiler

I've been using this software package for about two years now, and I can't say enough good things about it. DVD Profiler allows you to store your DVD movies in a completely searchable, sortable database, complete with pictures, actor/director/plot summary informationand even provides you with a website to upload your collection to. You can check out my collection using the link at left.

One of the great features of DVD Profiler is the Price Guide. It allows you to instantly scan your favorite dozen or so online DVD retailers to find the best prices, and provides you a report in a nice, easy to read tabular format. You can even add your selections to the cart on the site of your choice with a link from DVD Profiler.

Loan movies to your friends? Ever forget who has what? DVD Profiler has a built-in system to manage loaned movies too. Best of all, it's FREE. Yes, that's right, it FREE! Now, of course there is an ad-free version available at a small price, which I highly recommend paying for such a great product.

Check out this fantastic application at InterVocative Software.
